Dingding and Dangdang

A seven-volume novel series about two brothers with Down syndrome and the people they meet after they are separated.

IBBY Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities · 2015

About the book

Dingding and Dangdang are two brothers with Down syndrome living in a rural community. When they are separated, their search for one another reveals both the cruelty and the generosity of the world around them.

Artist’s note

I worked on the series over several years and had to keep one visual world alive across seven books. I kept the drawings restrained so Dingding and Dangdang could carry the story in their own way—with humor, vulnerability, and dignity.
