The Flight of a Bullet
A single bullet narrates its own flight. What begins as excitement turns into fear and a wish to stop.
About the book
After leaving the gun, the bullet passes a child’s candy floss, balloons, and a kite. As it begins to understand the lives in its path, its brief flight becomes a story about war, peace, and the possibility of changing course.
Artist’s note
This is one of my most personal books. The woman blowing soap bubbles was the first sample I made. Although it was not used in the published book, that image led to the commission and became the starting point for my collaboration with Bai Bing.
Selected illustrations
The final image is the original sample illustration. It was not used in the published book, but it led to the commission.
